BK Builds Construction LLC is a residential construction company based in Denver, North Carolina, built to bring honest, hands-on building to Lincoln County and the surrounding communities. We handle renovations and additions — updating a kitchen, adding space, fixing what isn't working in a home — and custom home building, on land you already own or land we help you evaluate.
As an owner-operated builder, there's no layer between the person who prices your project and the person who's on-site running it. Just a direct line to the builder, from your first phone call to the final walkthrough.
ABOUT
Luis Hernandez is the founder and CEO of BK Builds Construction — and the one who walks the site, prices the job, and shows up on-site, not a rotating cast of project managers. He's currently completing his North Carolina Residential General Contractor license.
Before construction, Luis spent his career in finance and consulting — starting in banking in Charlotte, then spending the majority of his career in consulting at a large public accounting firm. That background shaped how he views and manages a business: rigorous, detail-driven, and built on real numbers instead of guesswork.
Luis is from a small town in Colombia. His parents made the journey to America so he could have opportunities they never had — a sacrifice that still shapes how he runs BK Builds today. Denver, NC is home now, where he's built a life and a family of his own, and where he's building homes for other families in the community that gave his one a future.
Apart from Luis, Benji and Knox are the true driving forces behind BK Builds — and the reason for its name. Benji is the family's Australian Shepherd, Knox is their Golden Retriever, and naming the company "BK" was Luis and his wife's way of keeping them in their lives forever.

For land, we walk the property and review perc results and setbacks. For a renovation, we walk the existing home and assess the real scope of work. Either way, we bring in the right people for a real cost estimate before anything is final.
We finalize a plan sized to your project and your budget, with an itemized cost breakdown — not a vague allowance.
We handle the permitting process with the county so you don't have to.
Construction begins, with regular on-site updates so you always know where things stand.
A final walkthrough, a clear warranty, and a home that's actually ready to live in.
